Check an Essay’s Word Count
Use this when an essay, application answer or assignment has a word limit.
Steps
- Paste the essay text.
- Read the Words count.
- Edit in the box; the counts update as you type.
- Copy the text back when it fits.
Good to know
- A word is anything between spaces or line breaks, so “well-known” counts as one word and a lone dash counts as one.
- Your teacher’s or the form’s counter may count slightly differently. Leave a small margin under the limit.
