Generate SHA hashes for free in your browser

See the SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512 hashes of any text or file at once, and check them against an expected checksum.

How to use Hash Generator
  1. Type or paste text, or choose or drop a file.
  2. Read all four hashes as soon as they are computed.
  3. Paste an expected checksum to check it, or copy the hash you need.
Questions
How do I verify a downloaded file's checksum?
Drop the file onto the page, then paste the published checksum into Compare with expected hash. The matching algorithm is highlighted; if nothing matches, the tool tells you so. You can paste the bare hash, a line like "SHA256: …", or sha256sum output.
Which hash algorithms are supported?
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, all shown together. They are computed with your browser's Web Crypto API. MD5 is not supported.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read and hashed in your browser and never leaves your device.
Can it hash large files?
Yes, as long as your browser can load the whole file into memory; the hashing runs in the background without freezing the page. Very large files (several gigabytes) may fail to load, and the tool says so if they do.
Why does my text hash differ from another tool's?
Text is hashed as UTF-8 exactly as typed, including spaces and line breaks. A trailing newline or different line endings change the hash.
