Check if Two Files Are Identical
Use this when two files have different names or dates and you want to know if their contents are the same.
Steps
- Choose the first file and copy its SHA-256 hash.
- Paste it into Compare with expected hash.
- Select Choose another file and pick the second file.
- Match means the two files are identical.
Good to know
- Matching hashes mean the contents are byte-for-byte the same. File names and dates are not part of the hash.
- A single changed byte gives a completely different hash; it does not show what changed.
